Places with a story
Kløgetvedttunet

Kløgetvedttunet is a preserved farmstead and local museum in Bjerkreim. Its restored buildings and period rooms provide a close view of rural households, including the social role of the farmhouse living room.
The place1
Bjerkreim municipality describes the place as a living farmyard with buildings from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The value of the ensemble lies in seeing these structures together: a farm was both a home and a place of work, and its yard connected different parts of everyday life.
History and local connections1
The buildings have been restored so that visitors can learn about farming households of earlier generations. The living room is furnished to represent 1890. It can also serve as a gathering room, continuing the use of farmhouse rooms for meetings and shared occasions rather than treating the building solely as a display object.
What to look for1
Pay attention to the relationship between the restored buildings and the interior. The rooms offer a useful starting point for thinking about how family life, hospitality and farm work shared limited space. A guided visit can put these features in context and explain what has been preserved or restored.
Planning a visit1
The farmstead has no regular opening hours. Contact Bjerkreim's cultural office or service department to arrange a visit, whether travelling individually or with a group. Summer events are announced locally. Check the municipality's own page before making a special journey, since an exterior visit and interior access are different arrangements.
