Places with a story
Tysværtunet

Tysværtunet is a cultural and community centre in Aksdal, Tysvær. Performances, cinema, the library and physical activities make it a useful place to see how a Norwegian municipality brings public services and everyday cultural life together.
The place1
The centre stands at Aksdalsvegen 157 near the meeting of E 134 and E 39. Its main hall is used for concerts, theatre, films and conferences, while other rooms support smaller gatherings. The operator presents the building as a meeting place for the wider Haugalandet region as well as for local residents.
History and local connections4
A Husbanken project account explains that municipal health and cultural departments initially planned separate buildings, then chose a shared multipurpose complex. It records construction stages in 1992,1996 and 2005. The shared arrangement also connected cultural facilities with care services, making the building's social purpose as important as its individual rooms.
What to look for231
Tysvær's library is housed here, and the municipality describes art exhibitions in the foyer organized by Tysvær Kunstlag. The operator also identifies a sports hall and swimming facilities. Look at the programme as a way into local life: a film, concert or library event can reveal a different aspect of the same civic meeting place.
Planning a visit12
Consult the cultural centre's current calendar and the library's information when planning a visit. Each activity has its own arrangements, and the presence of a swimming complex does not confirm availability of every pool. The building is an active venue, so select the event or service you want before travelling.
