Tysnes is a wooded archipelago with farms and villages between sounds, bays and long valleys. Tysnesøya and Reksteren are more sheltered and greener than many outer coastal islands.
Forestry, livestock and aquaculture connect livelihoods to the landscape. Uggdal houses the administration, while Våge is an important commercial and ferry hub towards Bergen.
