Ibestad consists of Rolla and Andørja, two mountainous islands where farms and homes follow the narrow shoreline. Andørja is particularly indented: Straumbotn cuts deep between high peaks, turning short map distances into long journeys around the inlet.
Fishing vessels, aquaculture and seafood processing give the islands jobs connected far beyond municipal boundaries. Hamnvik concentrates services, while smaller communities still combine marine businesses with livestock farming.
