Engerdal is a landscape of lakes, pine forest and mountains, with villages around Femunden and Engeren. Engerdal centre and Drevsjø share central functions; long distances are part of everyday life.
Svahken sijte, also called the Elgå reindeer district, forms part of a living South Sámi community. Reindeer husbandry, forestry, livestock farming, fishing and tourism use different parts of the same landscape.
