How do I register?

Register in HK-dir's official registration portal: choose the county you live in, find a test centre and an available date, and pick a payment method (bank card, online banking or invoice). Your registration is valid only once you receive confirmation by SMS and email.

What happens after I register?

Registration is binding. The test centre sends you the summons with the date, time and place, usually about two weeks before the exam. If you need accommodations (tilrettelegging), you must contact the test centre no later than three days after registering.

What do the tests cost?

The municipality sets the price. HK-dir states that Samfunnskunnskapsprøven usually costs 500–1300 NOK and Statsborgerprøven 300–1800 NOK. Check the listed fee on each test centre page and confirm it in the official registration.
