UDI (Utlendingsdirektoratet, the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration) is the government agency that processes most immigration-related applications in Norway. UDI is responsible for:
- Residence permit applications (work, family immigration, studies).
- Asylum and protection applications.
- Permanent residence permits.
- Travel documents for people without a valid passport.
UDI reports to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Appeals against UDI decisions go to the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE).
