Statsborgerprøven (the Norwegian Citizenship Test) is one of the tests required to become a Norwegian citizen. It is a multiple-choice exam on Norwegian society, culture, and history, covering broader topics than the Samfunnskunnskapsprøven.
The difference matters:
- Samfunnskunnskapsprøven is required for permanent residence.
- Statsborgerprøven is required for citizenship (alternative: Norwegian language test at B2).
The test is administered by HK-dir; the citizenship decision itself is made by UDI.
