Norskprøven

Norskprøven is the official Norwegian-language test for adult immigrants. It has sub-tests in:

• Reading comprehension.
• Listening comprehension.
• Written production.
• Oral production.

Each sub-test is scored on the CEFR scale (A1, A2, B1, B2). Many applications in Norway have a minimum threshold:

• A2 — required for permanent residence for most applicants.
• B1 — an alternative path to citizenship.
• B2+ — required for Norwegian-language higher education.
